About the game
Antike Duellum is a two-player civilization game adapted from Mac Gerdts' Antike, featuring two historical scenarios: the Punic Wars (Rome vs. Carthage) and the Persian Wars (Greeks vs. Persians). Using Gerdts' signature rondel system, players expand cities, manage resources, and race to be the first to gain nine ancient personages such as kings, scholars, and generals. Streamlined rules compared to the original Antike keep sessions tighter and more focused. It's a compact, tactical head-to-head duel of ancient empire-building.
Hobbli's Notes
Fans of Mac Gerdts' rondel-driven games will feel right at home here, and trimming the design to two players sharpens the head-to-head tension considerably. The two distinct historical scenarios give the game real variety despite its compact scope. A strong pick for couples or pairs who enjoy tight civilization-building duels.
