About the game
Rune Age is a deck-building game of adventure and conquest set in the fantasy realm of Terrinoth, home to Runebound and Descent: Journeys in the Dark. Players control one of four races and choose from four distinct scenarios, each defining a different win condition, card pool, and event deck, ranging from all-out war to a fully cooperative campaign. Turns revolve around drawing five cards and using them to acquire units, tactics, and gold to grow a faction's military deck. Two of the four scenarios even include solitaire rules for solo play.
Hobbli's Notes
Rune Age is a nice hybrid for groups who can't decide between competitive and cooperative deck-building, since the scenario system genuinely changes how the game plays each time. Setting it in the established Terrinoth universe gives it a satisfying sense of place for fans of Fantasy Flight's other games in that world. The variable player powers keep each faction feeling distinct. A solid, flexible deck-builder for fantasy fans.
