About the game

Mr. Jack in New York is a standalone two-player deduction duel set in 1889 Manhattan, where one player controls Mr. Jack and the other a determined detective. Using gaslights, manholes, and characters with unique powers, the Detective tries to expose Jack's identity before he escapes across the city's waterways. Mr. Jack, meanwhile, manipulates suspicion and movement to slip away unnoticed. It's a more strategic, complex evolution of the original Mr. Jack system for experienced two-player gamers.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli enjoys how tightly wound this deduction duel feels: every move reveals or conceals information, and the escalating tension toward the endgame keeps both players locked in.

What we like

  • Tight, tense two-player deduction duel.
  • Asymmetric characters give both sides unique powers.
  • Quick 30-minute playtime.
  • Thematic Jack the Ripper mystery setting.

Keep in mind

  • Strictly limited to two players.
  • New players may benefit from learning the original Mr. Jack first.
  • Appeal depends heavily on enjoying pure deduction over other mechanics.

Who it's for

Best for two-player strategy and deduction fans aged 14+ who already appreciate tense, information-based dueling games.
