About the game
Space Hulk drops two players into the claustrophobic corridors of a derelict starship, pitting elite Space Marine Terminators against swarming alien Genestealers. One player maneuvers a small squad through tight, modular corridors on tense missions, while the other floods the map with fast, lethal aliens. Action points and dice-driven combat create nail-biting moments as ammo runs low and reinforcements swarm in. It's a scenario-driven miniatures game built around mounting tension in a doomed, cramped setting.
Hobbli's Notes
Space Hulk nails atmosphere: every corridor feels like it could be your last stand. The asymmetry between the deliberate, resource-strapped Marines and the overwhelming Genestealer horde makes for genuinely different experiences on each side of the table. It's a must for Warhammer 40K fans, and even without the license, the tense scenario design holds up as a sharp two-player miniatures game.
What we like
- Intensely atmospheric asymmetric combat.
- Quality miniatures and modular board add tactile appeal.
- Scenario-based campaign structure offers variety.
- Quick to teach relative to its thematic depth.
Keep in mind
- Limited to exactly two players.
- Genestealer side can feel repetitive over many plays.
- Component cost and setup can be significant.
Who it's for
Ideal for two players, ages 12+, who enjoy tense sci-fi miniatures combat and asymmetric scenario play.
