About the game

A Touch of Evil plunges players into the gaslit, monster-haunted village of Shadowbrook, where heroic hunters race to investigate rumors, gather strength, and confront a supernatural villain. Choose from eight distinct heroes and face one of four terrifying villains, each with unique minions and powers. Play competitively to be the first to win, or team up cooperatively against a stronger foe. Dice rolling and card-driven encounters create a cinematic, pulpy horror adventure. Atmospheric artwork and modular villain decks keep every playthrough tense and different.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team loves the pulpy Flying Frog Productions house style here: moody art, a strong sense of place, and enough variable villains to keep the shelf-life long. It's a bit dice-swingy and can run long with a full table, but the flexible co-op/competitive modes make it a great pick for horror-loving groups who want an adventure rather than a pure strategy exercise.

What we like

  • Atmospheric gothic horror theme with strong artwork.
  • Four distinct villains and eight heroes add real replay variety.
  • Supports both competitive and cooperative play styles.
  • Cinematic, story-driven encounters keep the adventure feeling fresh.

Keep in mind

  • Playtime can stretch long with a full 8-player table.
  • Combat and encounters lean heavily on dice luck.
  • Downtime can build up when it isn't your turn.
