About the game

Tammany Hall casts players as political bosses vying for control of 19th-century New York City through corruption, favor-trading, and backroom deals. Players help immigrant groups settle across city boroughs, collect political favors, and deploy ward bosses to secure votes ahead of periodic elections. The winning candidate for Mayor must then reward rivals with government offices, seeding future betrayal and shifting alliances. Constant negotiation and temporary alliances mean today's ally is tomorrow's rival. Its area-control and bidding mechanics create a cutthroat, historically flavored political drama.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editorial team enjoys Tammany Hall for capturing genuine political intrigue - the requirement that the winning Mayor reward opponents with power creates fascinating catch-the-leader dynamics. Alliances shift constantly, and no partnership feels safe for long. It rewards sharp negotiation and reading the table as much as raw strategy. The theme of political corruption may not appeal to everyone, and heavy negotiation can slow the pace for less talkative groups.
