About the game

Hermagor sends players to a wealthy imaginary trading city where merchants buy goods in the marketplace and sell them profitably across the surrounding towns and villages. Each of the game's five rounds begins with players placing agents to claim marketplace goods tiles through area-majority control, then moving a single agent across the map's road network to sell those goods in demanding settlements. Selling in every town within a region can unlock production facilities that generate ongoing income, while rewards also come from selling along major roads and covering diverse regions. At game's end, the merchant with the greatest fortune, built through markets, routes, and regional dominance, is declared the wealthiest trader in Hermagor.

Hobbli's Notes

This is a dense, old-school Euro trading game with a lot of interlocking systems: marketplace control, route-building, and regional majorities all compete for your attention. The agent-placement auction for goods tiles is a clever twist, but the two-hour-plus runtime and heavy downtime mean it's best suited to patient groups who enjoy puzzling out an optimal trade network. It's a title for dedicated Euro fans rather than casual tables.

What we like

  • Rich network-building rewards long-term route planning.
  • Marketplace agent-placement adds a satisfying area-control layer.
  • Regional majority bonuses give multiple viable paths to victory.
  • Thematic medieval trading world ties mechanics together well.

Keep in mind

  • Long playtime paired with heavy downtime between turns.
  • Complex interlocking systems may overwhelm newer players.
  • Early marketplace losses can snowball into a difficult position.

Who it's for

Recommended for experienced Euro gamers aged 12 and up, in groups of two to five, who enjoy trade-route building and market-control mechanics.
