About the game
Shadow Hunters is a hidden-role survival game set in a monster-haunted forest, pitting Shadows, Hunters, and Neutrals against one another. Each player conceals their true allegiance and tries to identify friend from foe before striking, using special abilities, equipment cards, and dice-based combat. As alliances become clearer, tension mounts until only one faction, or a lucky civilian, remains standing. It plays quickly and scales up to eight players, making it a lively party-sized deduction game.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli has always liked Shadow Hunters as a gateway hidden-role game: it's simpler to teach than many social deduction titles yet still delivers real betrayal and suspicion at the table. The variable characters keep repeated plays interesting even after dozens of sessions.
What we like
- Hidden-role deduction creates constant suspicion and table talk.
- Variable character powers keep matches feeling different each time.
- Easy to teach relative to other social deduction games.
- Scales well from a small group up to eight players.
Keep in mind
- Player elimination can leave some players sitting out early.
- Combat outcomes rely heavily on dice luck.
- Longer sessions with a full eight players can drag in places.
Who it's for
Ideal for groups of 4-8 players aged 13+ who enjoy bluffing, social deduction, and light dice combat at game nights or parties.
