About the game
La Città places two to five players in charge of rival Renaissance city-states, each trying to grow the largest and best-developed population. Players build farms, quarries, marketplaces, and bathhouses to feed, finance, and care for their citizens, while other structures grant influence that can pull population away from neighboring cities. At the end of each of six turns, the 'Voice of the People' determines whose city gains favor based on relative strengths. Victory comes from balancing a well-rounded, well-fed, and populous city over the course of the game. It's a classic city-building euro built around area influence and resource management.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team sees La Città as an interesting, somewhat overlooked entry in the city-building euro genre, notable for its unusual population-shifting mechanic between rival cities. It rewards players who can balance multiple competing priorities across a fairly long game. The complexity and downtime place it firmly in heavy-euro territory rather than a casual pick. Recommended for dedicated groups who enjoy classic-style area-influence strategy games.
