About the game

FlipToons: Season 2 casts players as animated-show talent agents auditioning a brand-new lineup of cartoon animal "Toons," including new aquatic creatures. It's a quick deck-building game for 1-4 players that layers in a new Return mechanic to bring retired cards back into the mix. This standalone entry doesn't require the original FlipToons to play, though it slots in alongside it for existing collectors.

Hobbli's Notes

FlipToons: Season 2 keeps the quick deck-building loop of the original but refreshes the cast with a new set of cartoon animal "Toons," aquatic creatures among them, plus a new Return mechanic that lets retired cards come back into play. It plays fast and light, which makes the "just one more round" pull easy to indulge, and the score-and-reset structure means a single bad round rarely ruins the whole game. It's a standalone entry rather than a true sequel, so it works equally well as a fresh starting point or an addition to an existing FlipToons collection.

What we like

  • Fast, light deck-building that's easy to teach to new players.
  • New Return mechanic adds a fresh wrinkle without adding complexity.
  • Score-and-reset structure keeps any single bad round from spiraling.
  • Playful cartoon theme with a fresh cast of characters.

Keep in mind

  • Light complexity means less long-term strategic depth than heavier deck-builders.
  • Some of the appeal depends on familiarity with the original FlipToons.
  • Market-based drafting can create swingy card availability between players.

Who it's for

Great for families and casual gamers who enjoy quick deck-building games, ages 10+, in groups of 1-4.
