About the game
In Le Chocolat, two players split a grid of chocolate tiles along a straight line, claiming whichever chunk of three or fewer tiles is left over at the end of a turn. Scoring depends on ingredients and flavors defined by a scoring card that changes with every play, so the ideal way to divide the chocolate shifts each game. It's a ten-minute exercise in "I cut, you choose" fairness, dressed up as a chocolate bar.
Hobbli's Notes
Le Chocolat is a tiny, ten-minute two-player puzzle built entirely around the classic "I cut, you choose" fairness dilemma, reskinned as splitting up a chocolate bar. Deciding exactly where to cut the grid so your opponent is left with the worse half, without knowing the scoring rules that change every game, is a surprisingly sharp little puzzle for something this small. It won't hold a table's attention for long, but as a quick two-player filler it's clever, well themed, and easy to fit anywhere.
What we like
- Clever "I cut, you choose" puzzle packed into a tiny ten-minute box.
- Scoring card changes every game, keeping the puzzle fresh across plays.
- Extremely easy to teach and to fit into any spare moment.
- Charming chocolate theme adds personality to a simple abstract puzzle.
Keep in mind
- Strictly two players, so it can't flex to other group sizes.
- Very short playtime means it won't anchor a full game night on its own.
- Limited long-term depth once the core cutting strategy is understood.
Who it's for
Great for two-player groups looking for a quick, clever puzzle filler, ages 7+.
