About the game
A Wild Venture is a fast-paced two-player card game where you build engines out of a shared deck of quirky characters, only to tear them down when the timing is right. With 108 unique cards, a double-sided board, and two themed sets, hands play out differently every time. Only cards you've fully used score points, so knowing when to cash in a combo is the whole game. It rewards sharp tactical timing over long-term planning.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team enjoyed the unusual push-pull of building combos specifically so you can dismantle them for points: it flips the usual engine-building formula on its head. It's a tight, brainy duel that plays fast for its depth. As a brand-new release we haven't seen it hit the table repeatedly yet, so our read is still forming.
What we like
- Unique build-then-dismantle timing mechanic feels fresh.
- High replayability thanks to 108 cards and two themed sets.
- Plays in about an hour, quick for the strategic depth offered.
- Double-sided board adds variety across sessions.
Keep in mind
- Strictly two-player, so it won't work for larger groups.
- New release with an unproven track record.
- Timing-focused scoring may feel abstract to players who want strong theme immersion.
Who it's for
Best for two players who enjoy tight tactical card duels with a timing puzzle; teens and adults who like Race for the Galaxy-style engine games.
