About the game
Unmatched: Slings and Arrows brings literary legends to the battlefield, pitting William Shakespeare against the Wayward Sisters, Hamlet, and Titania on the Globe Theater's stage. Each fighter has a uniquely designed deck of cards for movement and combat, resolved without dice through card comparisons and clever timing effects. An updated line-of-sight system supports ranged attacks and area effects. As with the rest of the Unmatched line, it's an accessible yet deeply tactical asymmetric skirmish game.
Hobbli's Notes
A fantastic addition to an already excellent line: the Shakespeare deck's iambic-pentameter bonus is a clever, character-appropriate touch, and the no-luck combat resolution keeps matches feeling skill-driven. Great whether played standalone or mixed with other Unmatched sets.
What we like
- Highly asymmetric hero decks each feel genuinely distinct.
- Quick, no-luck combat resolution rewards skill.
- Clever literary theming with a unique iambic-pentameter mechanic.
- Easy to learn but offers real depth to master.
Keep in mind
- Best variety requires owning other Unmatched sets.
- Some card interactions need careful reading to resolve correctly.
- Combat-focused theme won't appeal to every group.
Who it's for
Fans of tactical asymmetric combat games, ages 9+, best for 2 or 4 players in quick head-to-head matches.
