About the game
In Spectacular, you build and grow your own animal park for vulnerable species, drafting animal tiles and dice that represent food across shared habitats. Because tiles and dice are chosen simultaneously, every player's decisions ripple into what's available for everyone else, keeping the whole table engaged at once. Points come from connected habitat regions, family tile bonuses, watchtowers, and species variety, with optional mission tiles adding an extra layer of challenge. Asymmetric player boards give each game a different flavor even after repeated plays.
Hobbli's Notes
Spectacular impresses us with how much interaction it squeezes out of a simultaneous-selection format, avoiding the dead time that often plagues drafting games. The animal park theme is charming and the puzzle of matching dice colors to habitats is satisfying without being overwhelming. It's a lovely-looking game that rewards a bit of forward planning. A strong pick for tables that want a mid-weight puzzle with real tension.
