About the game
The Gang is a cooperative twist on Texas Hold'em, where players secretly rank how strong they believe their poker hand is relative to the table, then try to reveal their hands in the correct order without speaking. As community cards are revealed, players can adjust their ranking chips to reflect new information. If everyone's chip order matches the true strength of their hands, the gang cracks open a vault; guess wrong, and the alarm trips. Survive three vault openings before three alarms to pull off the heist together.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team loves how The Gang repurposes poker hand-reading into a tense cooperative puzzle rather than a competitive bluffing game. The no-talking constraint creates wonderfully awkward silent tension as players try to signal confidence through chip placement alone. It's quick to teach for anyone who already knows poker hand rankings. The cooperative framing makes it a refreshing change of pace from typical card games.
What we like
- Clever cooperative twist on familiar poker hand rankings.
- Silent communication constraint creates fun tension.
- Quick playtime makes it easy to play multiple rounds.
- Simple rules for anyone who already knows poker.
Keep in mind
- Requires familiarity with poker hand rankings to fully enjoy.
- Limited strategic depth beyond hand-reading and inference.
- Not ideal for players who dislike information-restricted communication.
Who it's for
Great for poker fans and cooperative gamers aged 10+ looking for a quick, tense game for 3-6 players.
