About the game
Just One is a fully cooperative party game where everyone works together to help one player guess a mystery word. Every other player writes a single-word clue in secret; identical clues are removed before the guesser sees what's left, so originality is rewarded. If the guess is correct, the team scores a point, and the goal is to see how close you can get to a perfect score across the deck. Simple to teach and endlessly replayable with any group, it's become a modern classic party game.
Hobbli's Notes
Just One is one of the best pure party games on the market: it's nearly impossible to teach badly, and it produces genuine laugh-out-loud moments almost every round. Because it's fully cooperative, there's no pressure or awkwardness for less competitive players, which makes it a fantastic icebreaker for mixed groups. It deservedly won the Spiel des Jahres, and it belongs in basically every game collection.
What we like
- It's exceptionally easy to teach in under a minute.
- The cooperative format keeps everyone included and laughing together.
- Rounds are quick, making it easy to fit in one more game.
- It scales beautifully across a wide range of group sizes.
Keep in mind
- Scoring can feel anticlimactic since there's no real competitive stakes.
- It doesn't support solo or strict two-player play.
- Success depends heavily on luck of word association between players.
- There isn't much strategic depth beyond clue-giving.
Who it's for
Perfect for large mixed groups of family and friends ages 8+ looking for a quick, hilarious cooperative party game.
