About the game
Compile is a two-player card game of competing artificial intelligences racing to understand reality itself. Each player selects three Protocols, concepts like Fire, Water, Darkness, or Psychic, to bring into play, then battles to 'Compile' all three before their opponent does. Cards played into a Protocol's command line can advance your own progress or disrupt your opponent's, using multi-use cards, area majority, and drafting to control the flow of each match. Because Protocols can be mixed and matched, every match plays out differently depending on which concepts collide. With a runtime of about 30 minutes, it delivers a sharp, tightly wound two-player strategic duel.
Hobbli's Notes
Compile is a clever, tightly designed two-player card game that rewards careful reading of your opponent's Protocol combination. The mix of drafting your own Protocols and then fighting to control them creates a nice push-pull that keeps matches tense throughout. Because it's still a newer release, we haven't logged as many plays as some other two-player classics, but the fundamentals here are sound. Worth a look for couples or friends who love sharp, quick strategic duels.
