About the game

Café Baras invites you to open your own cozy coffee shop as an enterprising capybara, competing with rival cafés popping up around town. Each turn, you play a card from your hand either as a food, drink, or decor item for your café, or use it to serve a customer and earn money. Fully satisfying a customer's needs turns them into a Regular, earning valuable bonus points at the end of the game. Balancing your menu and decor against rival shops determines who builds the busiest, most charming café in town. From the team behind Creature Comforts and Maple Valley, it's a warm, whimsical card-drafting tableau builder.

Hobbli's Notes

Café Baras brings the same cozy, critter-filled charm that made Creature Comforts and Maple Valley fan favorites, this time centered on running a capybara coffee shop. Hobbli's team is drawn to its multi-use card design, where every card can become either an item for your café or a way to serve a customer: a clean, elegant tension at the heart of the game. As a newer release, it hasn't been widely tested by our team yet, but the pedigree behind it and its charming production suggest a lot of promise for fans of cozy tableau-builders.

What we like

  • Charming capybara café theme with warm, inviting artwork.
  • Multi-use cards create an elegant build-versus-serve tension each turn.
