About the game
Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs is a solo-only game set after the events of Gloomhaven and Forgotten Circles, following a hero who's been magically miniaturized and must find a new way into the Crooked Bone. Each scenario is contained on a single card, pitting your lone mercenary against a handful of enemies using simplified AI. With just a hand of four double-sided cards usable twice each, and an original campaign story from Isaac Childres, it distills Gloomhaven's tactical combat feel into a compact, portable single-player package.
Hobbli's Notes
A wonderfully compact distillation of Gloomhaven's tactical combat system, tailor-made for solo play without needing a group or a huge table. The scenario-per-card format keeps sessions short and satisfying, and it's a lovely way to keep enjoying the world of Gloomhaven between full campaigns.
What we like
- Captures Gloomhaven's tactical feel in a much smaller package.
- Individual scenarios play quickly at around 20 minutes each.
- Satisfying campaign progression with an original storyline.
- No downtime concerns since it's entirely solo.
Keep in mind
- Single-player only, with no way to play alongside others.
- Smaller in scope than the full Gloomhaven experience.
- Veteran Gloomhaven fans may find it slight by comparison.
Who it's for
Solo gamers and Gloomhaven fans ages 10 and up looking for a compact, single-player tactical experience.
