About the game

Viking See-Saw is a light dexterity game where players carefully load luggage pieces onto a tilting 3D ship deck. Made of different materials like brass, wood, glass, and aluminum, each piece has a distinct weight that players must judge by feel and instinct to keep the ship balanced. If the ship tips, the offending player takes a penalty chest to add to their own pile of luggage. The game ends when someone finishes placing all their luggage or the penalty chests run out. Designed by Reiner Knizia, it's a quick, tactile game of nerve and careful balance.

Hobbli's Notes

This is classic Reiner Knizia charm in a compact dexterity package: simple to teach, immediately tactile, and tense in short, delightful bursts. Hobbli's team likes that the varied materials genuinely change how you have to judge weight and placement, adding real skill underneath the simple premise. It's a great filler for mixed-age groups who want something physical and fast rather than strategic.

What we like

  • Extremely quick, 10-minute playtime fits into any game night.
  • Tactile, physical gameplay is instantly appealing to kids and adults alike.
  • Varied materials add genuine skill to judging weight and balance.
  • Simple rules make it accessible to nearly any age group.

Keep in mind

  • Limited strategic depth beyond careful placement.
  • Physical components may wear or be sensitive to surface conditions.
  • Short playtime means it works best as a filler rather than a main event.
