About the game
Black Rose Wars: Rebirth is a competitive fantasy combat game in which mages battle for control of the legendary Black Rose Lodge. Players program spells onto their board and execute them in turn order, unleashing traps, defensive maneuvers, damage, and summoned beasts across a hexagonal arena. Death isn't the end: fallen mages return to their room, disrupting position but never fully removing them from the fight. As the second chapter in the Black Rose Wars series, it plays as a standalone game or an expansion to the original, supporting 1-4 players with extensive replayability through its deck and bag-building systems.
Hobbli's Notes
This is a richly tactical mage-battler with a genuinely clever spell-programming system and satisfying deckbuilding progression. It's a big table commitment in every sense, long playtime, dense rules, and a lot of miniatures and components to manage, but fans of tactical combat games will find plenty to sink their teeth into.
What we like
- A deep, tactical spell-programming combat system.
- Includes a strong solo mode alongside multiplayer.
- Rich deckbuilding progression adds long-term strategy.
- Extensive replayability, especially with available expansions.
Keep in mind
- A very long playtime of up to four hours.
- High complexity that can overwhelm new players.
- Significant table space and component overhead to manage.
Who it's for
