About the game
Unmatched: Cobble & Fog brings four new, wildly asymmetric heroes into the Unmatched fighting system: the elusive Invisible Man, the deductive Sherlock Holmes (with Watson at his side), the draining Dracula and his sisters, and the split personality of Jekyll & Hyde. Each hero fights using their own unique deck of cards, so match-ups constantly reward learning new combinations and counters. Movement and card-based, dice-free combat resolution keep fights tactical and skill-driven rather than luck-driven. Playable head-to-head or in four-player free-for-alls and team battles, it's a highly replayable tactical skirmish game.
Hobbli's Notes
Unmatched continues to impress with how distinct each hero feels to pilot: Invisible Man's fog-based mobility plays completely differently from Dracula's drain-based grind. The no-luck combat resolution means skillful play is consistently rewarded, which strategy-minded players will love. Because heroes are sold in themed sets, building a full roster requires collecting multiple boxes, and newcomers may need a few games to feel the asymmetry click.
What we like
- Each hero plays with a genuinely distinct strategy and deck.
- Dice-free combat resolution rewards skill over luck.
- Fast 40-minute games are easy to fit into a game night.
- High-quality miniatures and thematic crossover characters.
- Scales well from 1v1 duels to 4-player team battles.
Keep in mind
- Requires collecting multiple sets to access the full hero roster.
- New players may need a few games to grasp each hero's asymmetry.
- Some card and hero combinations can feel more powerful than others.
Who it's for
Great for two to four players, ages 9 and up, who enjoy quick tactical skirmishes and don't mind literary/horror crossover themes.
