About the game
Prophecy is a Talisman-style adventure game from designer Vlaada Chvátil, sending fantasy characters across a land of monsters and magic in search of five hidden artifacts. Instead of simple dice movement, players use varied means of transport and build up their character through an experience system of skills and spells. Combat against monsters drains your strength and willpower, which must be recharged through rest and healing. Whoever collects four of the five artifacts becomes the next king of the land.
Hobbli's Notes
Prophecy is an ambitious, sprawling adventure game that shows the early creative spark of Chvátil before Codenames and Galaxy Trucker. It offers a much deeper character-building system than Talisman, but that depth comes at the cost of a long, sometimes uneven playtime. It's best suited to groups who love long fantasy adventures and don't mind a heavier commitment.
