About the game

Azul: Summer Pavilion sends players back to Portugal to help construct a royal summer pavilion, drafting colorful tiles across six rounds to complete geometric star patterns. Each round one color acts as a wild, adding a fresh twist to the drafting puzzle, while completed stars and filled value-sets earn valuable end-game bonuses. It's a gorgeous, tactile puzzle game built on the same beloved drafting core as the original Azul.

Hobbli's Notes

Summer Pavilion is our favorite Azul variant for players who already love the series, since the wild-color rounds and star-shaped boards add a genuinely new spatial puzzle to solve. The tactile tile-drafting remains just as satisfying as ever, and the game looks stunning on the table.

What we like

  • Wild-color rounds add fresh variety to the classic Azul formula.
  • Beautiful, tactile tile components.
  • Simple rules with real depth for optimization.
  • Quick 45-minute playtime.

Keep in mind

  • Very similar core gameplay to other Azul editions.
  • Tile luck in the draft can occasionally frustrate plans.
  • Some may prefer the simpler original Azul board.

Who it's for

Great for ages 8+, families and puzzle-loving gamers, in groups of 2-4 who enjoy tile drafting and pattern building.
