About the game

Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra challenges players to draft colorful glass tiles and carefully assemble stained glass windows without wasting precious supplies. Double-sided player boards create nearly endless window layouts, and a new Colour Bonus mechanic rewards clever end-of-round scoring. Players draft tiles from a shared pool across six rounds, scoring points for completed patterns and sets while avoiding penalties for waste. Beautiful translucent components and a discard tower elevate the tactile drafting experience. It's an elegant sequel that keeps Azul's addictive drafting puzzle fresh with new decisions.

Hobbli's Notes

Sintra takes everything that made the original Azul a hit and layers in a smart new spatial puzzle with the double-sided boards. The translucent tiles are genuinely gorgeous on the table, which makes it an easy sell even to non-gamers. It's slightly more demanding than the original due to the added Colour Bonus scoring, but still very approachable.

What we like

  • Double-sided boards add nearly infinite pattern variety.
  • Approachable drafting rules make it easy to teach.
  • Colour Bonus mechanic adds a fresh layer of strategy over the original.

Keep in mind

  • Can feel similar to the original Azul for players wanting more differentiation.
  • Tile scarcity can sometimes feel more luck-driven than planned.
  • Analysis paralysis possible for players optimizing every placement.
