About the game
Tapestry invites you to build a civilization's entire story, from humble beginnings to a far-future legacy, by advancing along science, technology, exploration, and military tracks. Every advancement unlocks new benefits and shapes your own unique historical path, distinct from real-world civilizations. You'll grow your capital city, boost your income, and gain tapestry cards that narrate your civilization's journey. Designed by Jamey Stegmaier, it's an accessible, visually striking civilization game for a wide range of player counts.
Hobbli's Notes
Tapestry looks and feels spectacular on the table, and the freedom to chart your own civilization's path across four advancement tracks is genuinely compelling. Some feel the economic engine underneath doesn't always match the game's grand presentation, but as a gateway into civilization-building games, it's hard to beat for accessibility.
What we like
- Stunning visual presentation with an expanding capital city.
- Four distinct advancement tracks allow varied strategic paths.
- Scales impressively well from solo play to five players.
- Accessible rules make civilization-building approachable for newer gamers.
Keep in mind
- Underlying economic engine can feel less deep than the presentation suggests.
- Asymmetric civilization powers are not perfectly balanced.
- Can suffer some downtime as players plan multi-track strategies.
Who it's for
Great for ages 12+ players who enjoy civilization-building games with an accessible ruleset; scales well from solo to 5 players over about two hours.
