About the game
Miyabi challenges players to design an elegant, refined Japanese garden by carefully placing stones, bushes, trees, ponds, and pagodas across multiple layered levels. Careful planning and a watchful eye are needed as the garden grows in complexity throughout the season. From designer Michael Kiesling, the game plays quickly with simple rules but rewards clever layering and pattern-building decisions. Five included expansions add further variety once the base game is mastered.
Hobbli's Notes
A beautifully designed abstract puzzle with a clever multi-level layering twist that sets it apart from typical tile-layers. It's quick and elegant, though the abstract theme and light interaction may feel dry for players craving more narrative or conflict.
What we like
- Elegant multi-level layering mechanic sets it apart from other tile games.
- Quick playtime with very low downtime between turns.
- Five included expansions provide plenty of long-term variety.
- Attractive garden-building theme with satisfying puzzle-solving.
Keep in mind
- Abstract theme may feel dry compared to more thematic games.
