About the game

Fast Sloths is a race game with a twist: you play a sloth who never moves under your own power, instead being carried around a modular resort board by other animals. Each turn, players draft cards from face-up decks of different animal species and play them to be transported - ants might carry you in a chain, while an elephant flings you with its trunk. With no dice and no randomness, the game evolves entirely through player interaction and card drafting as everyone races to reach the finish trees first. The board can be arranged in four combinations, offering many different race layouts.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team finds the theme of being lazily carried around by other animals genuinely charming and a nice change of pace from typical race games. Because there's no randomness, outcomes come down to smart drafting and reading your opponents' plans. It's light enough for families but has enough interaction to keep experienced gamers engaged too. The many animal combinations give it solid replay value for a game this simple.

What we like

  • Whimsical theme of lazy sloths being carried is genuinely fun.
  • No randomness means outcomes depend purely on skillful play.
  • Modular board offers many different layouts and combinations.
  • Easy to teach, making it accessible for families.

Keep in mind

  • Lack of randomness may reduce tension for players who like variance.
  • Card drafting can create some analysis-paralysis for new players.
  • Light theme may not satisfy players seeking deeper strategy.

Who it's for

Great for families and casual groups of 2-5, ages 8+, who enjoy light strategic race games.
