About the game

Similo is a cooperative deduction game where one player gives clues using character cards to help the rest of the table guess a secret character from twelve on display, stating whether each clue card is similar to or different from the secret one. After each clue, the guessers remove characters from the table until only the correct one remains, winning the round, or the right one gets removed, losing it. Themed decks like Fables, History, or Myths can be mixed for extra difficulty. It plays quickly with two to eight players.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editors love this as one of the most elegant cooperative deduction games around, with rules simple enough for children yet clever enough to challenge adults. Mixing different themed decks for clues versus characters adds a nice difficulty dial. Its short 15-minute rounds make it easy to fit anywhere. A great family pick that rewards clear communication.

What we like

  • Simple rules that teach deduction and communication skills.
  • Quick 15-minute rounds encourage repeated play.
  • Beautifully illustrated themed decks across multiple sets.
  • Scales smoothly from two players up to eight.

Keep in mind

  • Limited strategic depth for very experienced gamers.
  • Success depends heavily on the clue-giver's skill.
  • Can feel repetitive after many consecutive rounds.
