About the game
Tiny Epic Mechs is an arena-style action-programming game set in a futuristic sport of Mechanized Entertainment Combat Heroes. Players pilot ITEMeeples in powered armor, programming four of eight available actions each round to move around a modular arena, deploy turrets, plant hidden mines, gather resources, and eventually power up into a coveted Mech Suit. Combat uses a rock-paper-scissors weapon-typing system, rewarding players who time their attacks to counter opponents. Despite its small box, it packs in real tactical depth for 1 to 4 players, including a dedicated solo mode.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team is a fan of the Tiny Epic series for cramming surprisingly deep gameplay into a small footprint, and Mechs is no exception: the action-programming and weapon-type counters create genuinely tense tactical decisions. The included solo mode is a great bonus for players without a regular group. It does take a session or two to fully grasp the iconography and combat interactions, but the payoff is a fast, punchy combat game. Recommended for gamers who enjoy tactical area control with a dash of chaos.
