About the game
Skulk Hollow is a two-player asymmetric tactical combat game set in the animal kingdoms of Børe. One player controls a towering, monstrous Guardian trying to crush the Foxen clans, while the other commands a band of foxen heroes trying to bring the beast down. Using action cards to move, summon, and unleash special abilities, the Foxen must literally climb onto the Guardian's player board to dismantle it piece by piece. It's a tense, story-driven duel built entirely around this asymmetric showdown.
Hobbli's Notes
The asymmetry here is the whole appeal: one side plays a spatial puzzle of climbing and dismantling, the other a tactical unit-management game. It's a niche but clever two-player option for couples or friends who want something different from typical duels.
What we like
- The asymmetric roles give each player a genuinely different play experience.
- The Guardian-climbing mechanic is a unique and memorable centerpiece.
- Quick 40-minute playtime keeps tension high without dragging on.
- Strong theme and evocative animal-kingdom artwork.
Keep in mind
- Strictly two players limits its use for larger groups.
- Balance between the asymmetric sides can take a few plays to appreciate.
- Niche theme and mechanics may not appeal to fans of more traditional combat games.
Who it's for
Two players aged 8 and up who enjoy tactical, asymmetric head-to-head combat games.
