About the game
For Glory drops two players into the sandals of rival gladiator school owners in ancient Rome. The game unfolds across two phases: a Machinations phase where you recruit fighters, build income, and train tactics, followed by an Arena phase where those gladiators clash in tense head-to-head combat. Each gladiator brings unique stats and abilities, and clever synergies between them can make the difference between glory and defeat. The first lanista to earn six glory through arena victories claims eternal fame.
Hobbli's Notes
This is a smart two-player game for anyone who likes deckbuilding but wants a harder-hitting payoff than most builders offer. The switch between building your engine and fighting with it keeps both halves of the game feeling purposeful rather than padded.
What we like
- Tight two-phase structure separates deckbuilding from combat cleanly.
- Unique gladiator abilities create meaningful build variety.
- Area majority elements add an extra layer of tactical depth.
- Escalating six-glory win condition keeps tension high throughout.
Keep in mind
- Strictly two-player, which limits use for larger groups.
- The building phase can feel slow for players eager to reach combat.
- Combat rules carry some overhead to track fully.
Who it's for
Best suited to two-player strategy fans aged 14+ who enjoy combat-focused deckbuilders and tactical card play.
