About the game

HEXplore It: The Valley of the Dead King is a hero-building adventure game where players combine a Role and Race to create a unique hero, then travel across a hex map earning power through quests and battles. Dry erase markers track your hero's evolving strength as you visit cities, shrines, and ruins scattered across the valley. Meanwhile, the fearsome Dead King advances too, destroying cities and growing in power the longer you take. The goal is to power up quickly enough to confront and defeat the Dead King before he overwhelms the realm.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editorial team enjoys the flexible character-building at the heart of HEXplore It, letting players craft a truly customized hero before setting out on the adventure. The looming threat of the Dead King steadily destroying cities creates a satisfying sense of urgency that keeps the campaign moving. Its use of dry erase components adds a tactile, RPG-like feel to hero progression that fans of fantasy adventure games will appreciate. We recommend it for groups who enjoy cooperative fantasy exploration with a strong sense of building your own hero.
