About the game

Take 5! is Wolfgang Kramer's more strategic follow-up to the classic 6 Nimmt!, played with a deck numbered 1 to 98 where cards carry positive or negative bullhead points. Players simultaneously play cards to build four growing rows, and whoever plays the card that becomes the fifth in a row must collect the whole row's penalty points. Deciding which cards to hold back and when to sacrifice a row to a rival is the heart of the tension. It's a quick, endlessly replayable card game of hand management and calculated risk.

Hobbli's Notes

Take 5! (and its sibling 6 Nimmt!) remain some of the smartest light card games ever designed - a handful of simple rules produce constant groans and laughter around the table. We love that it plays just as well with a big group of six as it does with two. It's a must-have filler for any collection.

What we like

  • Simple rules but genuinely tricky simultaneous-selection decisions.
  • Scales smoothly from 2 to 6 players.
  • Fast playtime with high replayability.
  • Classic, proven design from Wolfgang Kramer.

Keep in mind

  • Simultaneous card reveal can feel lucky when hands don't line up as planned.
  • Limited strategic depth compared to heavier hand-management games.

Who it's for

Perfect for groups of 2-6, ages 8 and up, who enjoy quick, social card games with light strategic bite.
