About the game

Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu reskins the classic Pandemic system with a Lovecraftian horror twist, sending investigators to seal portals and shut down cults before ancient Old Ones break through into our world. Set in the fictional New England towns of Arkham, Dunwich, Innsmouth, and Kingsport, players use action points, hand management, and variable investigator powers to cooperate against a mounting threat. Instead of curing diseases, teams race against rising madness and chaos. It's a faster, more thematic entry point into the beloved Pandemic system for horror fans.

Hobbli's Notes

Fans of the original Pandemic will feel right at home here, and the Lovecraftian reskin adds a welcome layer of dread to the familiar mechanics. It's a great way to introduce horror-curious players to cooperative gaming without the heavier commitment of a full campaign game. The shorter playtime and lower complexity make it an easy pick for a quick co-op session.

What we like

  • Familiar, well-tuned Pandemic system with fresh horror theming.
  • Quick playtime relative to other cooperative campaign games.
  • Variable investigator powers encourage team coordination.
  • Accessible entry point for newer cooperative gamers.

Keep in mind

  • Can suffer from a dominant "quarterback" player directing the team.
  • Familiar mechanics may feel repetitive to Pandemic veterans.

Who it's for

Good for 2-4 players, ages 10+, who enjoy cooperative games with a horror theme and want a lighter, faster take on the Pandemic system.
