About the game
Maximum Apocalypse is a cooperative roguelike adventure for 1-6 players surviving in a randomly generated post-apocalyptic landscape. On each turn, players use up to four actions to explore, play cards, equip weapons, scavenge, draw cards, or battle monsters, picking a unique survivor class like the ax-wielding Fireman or the stealthy map-scouting Hunter. The group must work together, leaning on each survivor's strengths, to defeat monsters and avoid starvation before finding enough gas to escape in their van and win.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team likes how the variable survivor classes give Maximum Apocalypse real tactical variety within its cooperative structure, and the randomly generated map keeps each playthrough distinct. Supporting up to six players makes it a solid pick for larger groups wanting a shared survival challenge. Larger groups can suffer from quarterbacking, and the card-based combat can feel a touch repetitive over many sessions.
What we like
- Variable survivor classes create distinct cooperative strategies.
- Randomly generated map boosts long-term replayability.
- Supports large groups of up to six players.
- Satisfying roguelike escalation of danger and tension.
Keep in mind
- Can suffer from quarterbacking in larger groups.
- Moderate downtime waiting through other players' turns.
- Card-based combat may feel repetitive over many plays.
Who it's for
Good for groups of 1-6 who enjoy cooperative survival games with light roguelike elements, suited to teens and adults who like zombie-apocalypse themes.
