About the game

Smash Up: It's Your Fault! is a fan-chosen expansion for the shuffle-and-fight card game Smash Up, where players combine two different factions to build a hybrid deck and battle for control of bases. This set introduces four crowd-nominated factions, Sharks, Superheroes, Mythic Greeks, and Dragons, plus a bonus 'Shark Delivery System' Tornado faction. As always, the fun comes from mixing unexpected faction combinations and unleashing their synergistic special abilities to out-score opponents on shared bases. It's a light, chaotic, highly replayable expansion for existing Smash Up fans.

Hobbli's Notes

Smash Up: It's Your Fault! leans into what makes the series great: that giddy feeling of combining two wildly different factions and watching absurd synergies emerge. The fan-voted factions give it a nice community-driven flavor, and the new combos add real replay value for existing collections. As an expansion, it requires the base game to play, so it isn't a good entry point on its own. Great for existing fans wanting fresh faction combinations.

What we like

  • Fan-voted factions add a fun community-driven twist.
  • New faction combinations breathe fresh life into an existing collection.
  • Fast, chaotic gameplay keeps sessions light and humorous.
  • Bonus Tornado faction adds an extra surprise for collectors.

Keep in mind

  • Requires owning the Smash Up base game to play.
  • Faction balance can vary, leading to some combos feeling stronger than others.
  • Not a good standalone entry point for newcomers to the series.
