About the game
Hit Z Road sends you on a frantic zombie-infested road trip down Route 66, scavenging for gas and bullets while battling shambling hordes. Each round begins with a bidding war that determines turn order and which dangers you'll face, tying your resources for survival directly to your ability to win auctions. Push your luck as you move through an escalating deck of adventure cards across three increasingly dangerous stages. Whether you're fending off cannibals, driving buses, or avoiding radioactive wastes, staying alive to the California coast is never guaranteed. The player who survives longest or scores the most wins this morbidly fun romp.
Hobbli's Notes
Hit Z Road, from veteran designer Martin Wallace, delivers a fun blend of push-your-luck card play and tense resource bidding wrapped in kitschy zombie horror theming. The escalating difficulty across three stages keeps tension rising throughout a playthrough. Player elimination is a real risk, which may frustrate some, but it fits the survival theme well. It's a solid pick for groups who enjoy dark humor and risk-taking in their game nights.
What we like
- Tense push-your-luck resource management.
- Escalating difficulty keeps games exciting.
- Solo mode included for flexible play.
- Fun, dark zombie road-trip theme.
Keep in mind
- Player elimination can leave some players sitting out early.
- Bidding mechanic can feel punishing when resources run low.
- Randomness of the adventure deck creates variable difficulty.
