About the game
Vinhos: Deluxe Edition puts players in charge of a Portuguese winery, developing vineyards, hiring oenologists, and producing quality wines over six years of harvests. Through worker placement, income management, and careful investment, players race to produce wines that can be exchanged for money or victory points. This Deluxe Edition adds new art, a ninth region, a new estate, additional characters, and a streamlined trade fair, plus a simplified version and dedicated solo mode on a double-sided board. It's a dense, interlocking economic engine-builder from designer Vital Lacerda.
Hobbli's Notes
Vinhos is a Lacerda puzzle through and through: dense, interconnected systems that reward careful planning over improvisation. The wine theme is more of a wrapper for the mechanisms than a deeply immersive experience, but the economic engine-building is genuinely satisfying for players who love that style. The included solo mode is a real bonus for fans who want to dig into the system alone.
What we like
- The interlocking economic systems create a deeply satisfying long-term puzzle.
- A dedicated solo mode offers a genuinely complete solo experience.
- The wine-making theme gives structure to investment and income decisions.
- Strong player agency lets you chart your own path to victory.
Keep in mind
- The rules overhead is heavy and intimidating for new players.
- Playtime runs long, especially for a first game.
- Direct player interaction is fairly limited.
- The theme can feel abstracted from the underlying mechanisms.
Who it's for
Best for dedicated euro-gamers ages 12+ who enjoy heavy, interlocking economic puzzles, playable solo or with up to 4 players.
