About the game
Celestia sends two to six adventurers aboard a flying airship on repeated voyages through the cities of a fantastical sky-world, hoping to collect the richest treasures before disaster strikes. Each round, a captain rolls dice to reveal hazards like storms or pirates, and players decide whether to bail out with guaranteed points or risk staying aboard for a shot at greater rewards further along. Push-your-luck tension and hidden victory points keep every landing decision nerve-wracking. The first adventurer to bank fifty points in treasure wins the game.
Hobbli's Notes
Celestia is push-your-luck design at its most elegant, with a simple 'jump or stay' decision that stays gripping round after round. The short playtime and low complexity make it an easy crowd-pleaser for mixed groups. It's light on strategy but big on tension and table talk, which is exactly what it sets out to be.
What we like
- Simple push-your-luck decisions create constant tension.
- Short playtime suits quick sessions with larger groups.
- Whimsical airship theme appeals to a wide range of ages.
- Easy to teach to new or casual players.
Keep in mind
- Heavy reliance on dice luck limits strategic depth.
- Players who bail early may feel less involved in later rounds.
- Hidden victory points can make it hard to judge how close the game is to ending.
Who it's for
Great for families and casual groups ages 8+ in sizes of 2-6 who enjoy quick push-your-luck decisions.
