About the game
The Game is a minimalist cooperative card game in which players try to discard all 98 cards onto four piles, two ascending, two descending, while never revealing the exact numbers in their hands. A clever exception lets players place a card exactly ten higher or lower than a pile's top card, opening surprising plays. Players can only offer vague warnings to teammates, making every discard a tense group decision. Empty the deck completely and everyone wins together.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli considers The Game a masterclass in minimalist design: tiny rules, huge tension, and endlessly replayable whether solo or with a group.
What we like
- Extremely simple rules that hide real depth.
- Works equally well solo or with a group.
- Very quick 20-minute playtime.
- Highly portable with strong long-term replay value.
Keep in mind
- Strict communication limits can frustrate players who want to coordinate more openly.
- Minimal components and theme.
- Can feel repetitive after many sessions.
