About the game
DungeonQuest: Revised Edition sends one to four heroes deep into the cursed Dragonfire Dungeon in search of gold and glory. Players race through winding corridors, dodging traps and monsters, while trying to grab the richest treasure before the sleeping dragon wakes. Every step is governed by the roll of the dice and the turn of a tile, so no two expeditions play out the same way. The revised edition streamlines combat while keeping the game's reputation for brutal, unpredictable danger intact. Escape alive with the most loot and you win: but many heroes never make it out.
Hobbli's Notes
DungeonQuest is a cult classic beloved for its sheer chaos: characters can be wiped out in an instant by a bad die roll, and Hobbli's team finds that swingy unfairness to be half the fun. It's not a game for players who want tight strategic control: it's a game for players who want a wild, tense dash through a deadly dungeon with friends laughing at each disaster. The push-your-luck tension of deciding whether to grab one more treasure before fleeing is genuinely gripping. Just don't go in expecting balance or fairness.
What we like
- Delivers heart-pounding push-your-luck tension as you decide whether to grab one more treasure.
- Fast, brutal dungeon crawling that creates memorable, story-worthy moments.
- Solo mode makes it easy to play a quick dungeon delve on your own.
- Streamlined revised combat system keeps the pace quick and dramatic.
Keep in mind
- Heavy reliance on dice and card draws means skill often takes a back seat to luck.
- Player elimination can leave someone out of the game early.
- Some players may find the punishing randomness frustrating rather than fun.
Who it's for
Best for ages 14+ groups of 2-4 who enjoy chaotic, luck-driven adventure games and don't mind character death; a great fit for players who love push-your-luck tension over deep strategy.
