About the game

Black Orchestra is a cooperative game in which players take on the roles of real historical conspirators plotting to assassinate Hitler across the stages of World War II. Players move through the board gathering items and building suspicion-managing plots while the Gestapo hunts for clues. A push-your-luck 'Conspire' dice mechanic lets players gamble for extra actions at the risk of drawing attention. Success requires careful coordination, timing, and a bit of nerve.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli finds Black Orchestra a genuinely tense cooperative experience with real historical weight behind its plotting and risk-taking. The push-your-luck dice mechanic keeps every turn interesting, even solo.

What we like

  • Strong historical theme woven directly into the mechanics.
  • Includes a well-supported solo mode.
  • Push-your-luck dice rolling keeps decisions interesting.
  • Variable player powers add replayability across games.

Keep in mind

  • Heavy historical subject matter may not suit every group.
  • Can suffer from a dominant player quarterbacking decisions.
  • Moderate rules overhead for players new to cooperative games.
