About the game
Terra is a trivia party game from designer Friedemann Friese, a redesign of his earlier animal-themed Fauna. Each round reveals a card with three related geography questions - like a location, date, or quantity - and players guess by placing tokens on a world map, timeline, and number line. Points reward exact and close answers, so even players unsure of the facts can score by their best estimate. It plays quickly for 2-6 players and works well for groups who enjoy general-knowledge trivia with a spatial, guess-the-range twist.
Hobbli's Notes
Terra is a lovely evolution of Friese's earlier Fauna, trading animals for general geography trivia that's approachable for a wide range of ages and knowledge levels. We especially like that close guesses still score, which keeps everyone engaged even when they don't know the exact answer. A dependable pick for family game night.
What we like
- Rewards both exact knowledge and educated guessing, keeping everyone engaged.
- Light complexity and quick 45-minute playtime suit family game nights.
- Broad geography topics make it genuinely educational.
- Scales comfortably from 2 to 6 players.
Keep in mind
- Trivia-based games can feel repetitive for groups without diverse general knowledge.
- Less appealing to players seeking strategic depth.
- Physical board and map components could limit portability.
Who it's for
Perfect for family game nights and mixed-knowledge groups of 2-6 who enjoy trivia without needing exact answers; light enough for kids old enough to place tokens on a map.
