About the game
Timeline is a simple, addictive card game where every card shows a historical event, invention, or discovery: but the date only appears on one side. On your turn, you place a card from your hand into the growing timeline on the table, guessing where it falls chronologically, then flip it to check. Guess wrong, and the card is discarded for a new one; guess right, and it stays put. The first player to empty their hand by correctly placing every card wins.
Hobbli's Notes
Few games teach as painlessly as Timeline does: you'll walk away having genuinely learned something, and the tension of committing to a guess never really wears off no matter how many times you play. A fantastic gateway game for mixed groups.
What we like
- Teaches real history and trivia while you play.
- Extremely quick to learn with almost no rules overhead.
- Scales well from small groups to a full table of eight.
- Endless replayability through different themed card sets.
Keep in mind
- Luck of the card draw can limit strategic control.
- Players unfamiliar with the historical facts may feel disadvantaged.
- Minimal player interaction beyond turn order.
Who it's for
Perfect for families, trivia lovers, and mixed-age groups of 8+, and it scales smoothly from two players up to a full table of eight.
