About the game
I'm the Boss! is a classic negotiation game from Sid Sackson in which players wheel and deal over corporate deals scattered across the board. As the Dollar marker lands on a deal space, players negotiate how the payout will be divided among the involved investors, using a hand of Influence cards to sway, block, or hijack the process. Special cards let you steal opponents' investors, seize control of negotiations, or shut down rivals' tricks entirely. The game rewards sharp table talk and cutthroat dealmaking, with victory going to whoever amasses the biggest bankroll.
Hobbli's Notes
This is vintage Sackson, pure, unfiltered negotiation with real teeth, since Influence cards let you hijack or block deals outright. It's a fantastic pick for groups who love loud, freewheeling table talk, though the heavy negotiation focus means downtime can be significant while others hash out a deal. If your group enjoys haggling as much as the numbers, this delivers.
What we like
- Rich, freeform negotiation gives every deal real tension and drama.
- Influence cards add clever twists like stealing investors or blocking deals.
- Classic Sid Sackson design with proven depth for its era.
- Great for groups who enjoy loud, social table talk.
Keep in mind
- High downtime while other players negotiate deals you're not part of.
- Negotiation-heavy games can be overwhelming for shy or less assertive players.
- Randomness of the Dollar marker's movement can undercut strategic planning.
