About the game
Galaxy Defenders is a cooperative sci-fi tactical wargame for 1-5 players, pitting a squad of specialized agents against an AI-controlled alien invasion. Each agent, from Marine to Sniper to Hulk, brings unique combat abilities to a dice-driven combat system across a twelve-mission story campaign. The alien behavior is governed by cards rather than a human opponent, creating unpredictable, escalating threats as agents gain experience between missions. An optional Alien Mind variant even lets one player control the aliens for a competitive twist.
Hobbli's Notes
This is a meaty, miniatures-heavy tactical experience for groups who love campaign-driven co-op wargames with real stakes and permanent character progression. The AI-driven alien system is clever, scaling difficulty dynamically based on squad size. It's a substantial investment of time and rules overhead, so it's best suited to dedicated groups willing to commit to the full campaign.
What we like
- Deep tactical combat with distinct agent roles and abilities.
- Dynamic AI system for aliens keeps missions unpredictable and challenging.
- Twelve-mission campaign with character progression rewards long-term investment.
- Optional competitive variant adds replay flexibility.
Keep in mind
- High rules overhead and long playtime demand a dedicated group.
- Component-heavy setup can slow down each session.
- Campaign structure means missing sessions can break narrative continuity.
Who it's for
Best for 1-5 players aged 14+ who enjoy tactical co-op wargames, miniatures, and campaign-style progression.
