About the game
Colossal Arena (also published as Titan: The Arena) is a Reiner Knizia betting and bluffing card game where 2-5 players wager on fantastical creatures fighting to the death in an arena. Each round, players secretly play numbered power cards to determine which creature is eliminated, all while managing bets that can be cashed in for special abilities. Sharp hand management and social reading of opponents' intentions drive every decision. The player with the biggest winnings when the dust settles takes the crown.
Hobbli's Notes
A classic Knizia design, Colossal Arena rewards clever bluffing and betting over direct conflict, since players are spectators rather than combatants. The tension of deciding when to sacrifice a creature you've bet on is deliciously agonizing. It's a lighter, quicker game that still offers real strategic depth in bet timing. Longtime Knizia fans will recognize the elegant, tight design typical of his card games.
