About the game
1775: Rebellion places 2-4 players in the American Revolutionary War, commanding the Continental Army and Patriots against the British Army and Loyalists, with Native American, Hessian, and French forces joining the fray. Each of the four factions uses its own deck of cards to maneuver units and control colonies, provinces, and territories, with battles resolved quickly using custom dice. Controlling an entire region lets you raise a flag, and the side with the most flags when the Treaty of Paris is signed wins. Part of the Birth of America series, it delivers faster, sharper play than its predecessor 1812: The Invasion of Canada.
Hobbli's Notes
1775: Rebellion is a great gateway into card-driven wargaming: its quick battle resolution and clear regional objectives make it far more approachable than most conflict simulations, and it deservedly won the Golden Geek Award for Best Wargame. The team-based four-faction structure creates fun asymmetric alliances at the table. Newer wargamers may still need a session or two to fully grasp the card-driven flow. A strong pick for groups wanting real history with manageable complexity.
