About the game

The Gallerist puts players in charge of an art gallery, managing artists, buying and exhibiting artwork, and cultivating reputation to draw visitors from around the world. Deep worker-placement and set-collection mechanics intertwine with investment and contract systems for a rich economic puzzle. Multiple paths to victory reward careful long-term planning over its lengthy playtime. It's a signature Vital Lacerda design known for its intricate interlocking systems.

Hobbli's Notes

This is a phenomenally interconnected design where every system feeds into another, which is exactly what fans of Lacerda's games come for. It demands patience to learn but is deeply rewarding once the pieces click.

What we like

  • Richly interconnected systems create deep strategic puzzles.
  • Strong thematic tie between art-world mechanics and gameplay.

  • High replayability from multiple viable strategies.

Keep in mind

  • Very steep learning curve and significant rules overhead.
  • Long playtime not suited to casual game sessions.
